Fans of the British Touring Car Championship will have the opportunity to take a stroll down memory lane here at the Thruxton Circuit on July 9/10 as the Super Tourers take on the fastest circuit in the UK as part of the British Trucks Race Meeting. It's guaranteed to be a weekend to remember.
As part of the Classic Touring Car Racing Club’s portfolio, iconic cars from one of the most revered periods in the BTCC will go wheel-to-wheel around the fastest circuit in the UK - sharing a grid with the Pre ’93 and Pre ’03 Touring Car categories.
One of the headline names on the entry list at Thruxton is touring car legend Anthony Reid. Reunited with the Nissan Primera that guided him to the runners-up spot in 1998, Reid arrives in Hampshire brimming with confidence after scoring victory at Oulton Park in the previous event.
Joining Reid in the sister Primera - which was formerly driven by the late David Leslie in the same year - is Richard Wheeler. No stranger to competing in these popular machines, Wheeler was also a winner last time out at Oulton Park.
Another car that was a regular front-runner back in 1998 was the Honda Accord, run back then by Prodrive. Now in the hands of Robert Salisbury, the former race-winning machine is back on-track and looking better than ever.
Jim Pocklington and Tony Absolom meanwhile continue to get fans on the edge of their seats in respective Vauxhall Cavaliers.
