2021 - BSB Preview

28 Jul 21

For the first time in two years, the Bennetts British Superbikes Championship in association with Pirelli makes a triumphant return to Thruxton Circuit this weekend (July 31/August 1) and it is set to be a spectacular show.

After a pandemic-enforced hiatus last year, the full-throttle action of the BSB speeds back to the fastest circuit in the UK to continue what has been a pulsating 25th Anniversary season so far.

It won’t just be the BSB that makes a welcome return to Hampshire either, with the Thruxton gates open to an unrestricted crowd for the first time since August 2019.

Crowd

Christian Iddon speeds into the weekend as the rider to beat with victories at Knockhill and Brands Hatch, as well as a further four visits to the podium, placing him at the top of the standings.

Riding better than ever, the VisionTrack Ducati ace will be keen to extend his advantage out front whilst holding off the ever-growing queue of rivals that are hot on his heels.

McAMS Yamaha duo Jason O’Halloran and Tarran Mckenzie have both stood on the top step of the podium and they sit second and third in the points; whilst Danny Buchan isn’t too far away as well.

Throw into the mix the likes of reigning champion Josh Brookes, local hero Tommy Bridewell, emerging young hotshot Rory Skinner and the experienced Peter Hickman, among many others, and you begin to see why this year is as competitive as ever.

Whilst there will be three BSB races to headline the weekend, those in attendance will be able to enjoy plenty more on-track highlights too courtesy of a stacked support programme.

Action from the Pirelli National Superstock Championship, Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship, Molson Group British Sidecars, Honda British Talent Cup, Quattro Group British Supersport/British GP2 and HEL Performance British Junior Supersport Championship will undisputedly get pulses racing.

Away from the racing a bustling trade village will be on-site, supercar displays, skid pan rides, food stalls and live entertainment make the event perfect for all the family.
